Bad batting and dropped catches lose matches

With last weeks match being rained off, a damp end to the week was the last thing FP’s 3rd XI had wanted, especially as the game was to be played at Sheddocksley Lower. The pitch was wet on arrival with water seeping over the soles walking on the wicket, but it seemed to dry very quickly and by the time the game commenced it was playable.  FP’s were two men short to play against Grade 4 second top Grampian 2nds, the team comprising Johnston (c), Ghosh (w), Lord, Youles, Stuart, D’Costa, MacDonald, Rafeek and this week’s debutant, schoolboy Divyesh Selveraj.

Damp good show at Turriff for 3rds

The rainy drive out to Turriff was not very encouraging for AGSFP’s 3rd XI as they had hoped to carry on the good form from the previous weeks. Due to late team changes and some traffic problems, FP’s captain Ian Johnston was late for the toss which had resulted in FP’s batting first.  With heavy drizzle and a dodgy weather forecast, the captains had agreed to reduce the game to 35 overs a side and hopefully ensure both teams would have a bat.

The FP’s line up showed only three survivors of the victory celebrations of the previous week with John Lord, John Youles, Jim Lee, Aly MacDonald, Matt Garratt, Matt Carson, Kingshuk Ghosh (w), Matthew McCaughtrie joining Johnston, Vinod Karmilla and Leston D’Costa.

Khandari the hero for FP’s

AGSFP’s 3rd XI were relieved to hear on Friday that for the first time this season, Ellon 2nd XI had raised a team and so a sunny Saturday would not be cricket-less. Actually it was FP’s who were fortunate to have a full team with debutantes Ross Collier and schoolboy Usman Farooq being very late additions, joining Ian Johnston, Tamus Whyte, Vineet Khandari, Doug Russell (w) Leston D’Costa, Vinod Karmilla, Gilles Gardner, Rafeek Risan, Faraj Monnapillai in the line up.

3rds BASK in cup glory at sunny Kintore

There were six changes to the Grammar 3rd XI to play against Aberdeen Super Kings in the Johnston Rose Bowl 40 over cup tie. This weeks venue due to the sinkhole at Harlaw, which the council are still looking into, was to be Kintore. Joining survivors from the previous match against Stonehaven – Ian Johnston, Agha Haider, Vinod Karmilla, Reezan Risan, Vineet Khandari  were Ben Frizzell,  Doug Russell, Leston D’Costa, Gilles Gardner, Jim Lee (w) and this week’s debutant Syed Ismail.

The Friday night late call off had been overcome, but with the toss already lost and FP’s ready to take the field, a phone call from Kemnay asking where our FP’s teammates were, was a bit worrying.

King of the swingers goes ape at Harlaw

_dsc5864_lzn_26548823784_oThe FP’s batting helmets should have been light blue this week  as it was a United Nations of a 3rd XI chosen to play Stonehaven 2nd XI at Harlaw, with seven nations  represented, namely Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and a Malteser. The line up was Ian Johnston, Gary Stuart, Aly Macdonald, Matt Carson, Roland Knudson, Faraj Monnapillai, Vineet Khandari, Vinod Karmilla, Agha Haider, Rafeek Risan and Jerry Moir. _dsc6072_lzn_27123446076_o

The toss was won by Stonehaven skipper Dave Long Snr who invited FP’s to bat first. The weather was sunny but windy and the overnight and morning rain had long since dried up. There was a change in the outfield, a sinkhole/escape tunnel from Rubislaw had recently appeared inside the boundary but had been fenced off so securely that even Donald Trump would have approved.
