Hemal Ton Downs 3s

3s despite a very spirited batting display fell to a 7 wicket loss as Hemal Chovatiya backed up his 3 for 16 with an unbeaten 117, as 2nd Masterblasters chased down Grammar’s 203 for 8. Grammar had been in some trouble with the top 3 aggregating 1 between them but some excellent batting from Hashmi (26) and then Syed Ahmed (58) on his 1st start of the season and Murtaza Sayed (46) helped Grammar up to a competitive score.

With the ball, Grammar picked up a couple of early wickets but could not dislodge the excellent Chovatiya who took Masterblasters to the win.

Leaders Grampian Far Too Strong for 3s

3s met Grampian for the 3rd time on Saturday having lost in the league earlier in the season and having had last weeks cup tie washed out with Grammar on the verge of a shock win. Grampian were relegated from Grade 1 last season and sit top of Grade 2 and unsurprisingly were just too strong for Grammar 3s.

Grammar batted 1st and lost regular wickets making just 83, a total not aided by 5 run outs only Sayed (18) and Shiraz (21) making double figures. Unfortunately Grammar could not pick up any wickets as Grampian strolled to victory in just 10 overs. These sorts of matches however, will not define 3s season and next up they face 2nd Masterblasters who recently narrowly defeated Grammar 2s.

Wet Wet Wet as all Grammar Games Wiped Out

Heavy overnight rain meant all 3 Grammar games were washed out on Saturday. Thankfully the calls came early in all 3 as wet outfields and ongoing drizzle made for easy decisions all round.

3s did get playing on Sunday in the Bon Accord Cup Semi Final and looked on course to take their tremendous cup run onto the final as they made 139 for 6 thanks to a dominant 74 (9×4, 3 x6) from Rasib Bashir from just 49 balls. He was well supported by Leston D’Costa with 32 but once again rain got involved.

Despite everyone’s best efforts there was no way the game could be completed or reach the 15 overs for the rain calculator to be used and the teams will need to start afresh next Sunday. League leaders Grampian had been reduced to 14 for 4 and despite recovering to 47 for 4 still needed 92 from 76 when the game had to be called.

3s Storm Portcullis

3s produced a very impressive 95 run against Portcullis at the Duthie Park, knocking over the hosts for just 77 replying to Grammar’s 172 all out. After contributions throughout from Murphy (30), Mo Waheed (18) and Ben Garwood (15), Kashif at 10 played an excellent hand making 33 not s he and Aryan Gupta added 38 for the last wicket to really put Grammar in a strong position.

Kashif then starred with the ball taking 3 for 26 well supported by fellow opening bowler Upadhyaya with 3 for 20. Ben Garwood then knocked over the lower order with 3 for 8 with Navaid claiming 1 for 14.

It was a very impressive win for 3s who next face Methlick away before the cup semi on Sunday against Grampian.

3s Stun Broch in the Cup

3s produced a marvelous midweek performance at Fraserburgh to keep their cup dream alive as they advanced to the semi final in fine style. Batting 1st, Grammar made a very useful 139 for 6, Nasseri crashing 4 sixes in an unbeaten 45 but once again there was good support throughout. The only blemish was skipper Babar Kamal being struck by a short delivery which necessitated an overnight stay in hospital, thankfully he is expected to make a full recovery and was buoyed by the excellent win.

With the ball, Nasseri was the hero as well, bagging 3 for 9, including the key wicket of Bowie who top scored with 27.

Grammar face 2nd Masterblasters in the semi final.
