Dunecht draw against sketchy FP’s

Harlaw was the venue for the Grade 4 match between AGSFP’s 3rd XI and Dunecht. FP’s team was Johnston (c), Gillies, Norwood, Gubbala, Hedge, Joy, Harsh, Lee, Satya Chowdar, Shri Bàlasubramani, Kiran Yalamanlchili. The toss was won by Dunecht skipper of only 9 players Burnett, who asked the home side to bat first. The weather was dry but cool with a strong wind blowing across the outfield which was shorter and drier than the previous week.

3rd FP’s run fast at slow Harlaw

One of the worst performances for many a year will have to lead to some serious changes for next week’s Grade 4 match against Dunecht. A major embarrassment was only narrowly avoided by FP’s captain hanging around for what seemed like an eternity. The Met office and BBC weather forecasts were completely inaccurate, an early postponement of the Grade 4 fixture between FP’s 3rds and Banchory 2nds was only just avoided by the bravery of the two captains who decided to wait for the downpour to arrive rather than call it off at 1100 hrs when some drizzle fell. The eternal 10 minute wait for the rain to arrive finally ended when the clouds lightened and so fortunately the egg removal from two faces exercise was only just avoided. BBC and Met Office to be replaced by a quick look out of the window on Saturday mornings from now on. Continue reading

One to forget for FP’s 3rd XI

Following the previous weeks’ easy win, FP’s 3rd XI had to make several changes to the line up.  A combination of holidays, exams and injuries had meant over 30 players were unavailable, but thanks to texting technology a full team eventually turned up to play against Gordonians 2nd XI at Countesswells.

The FP’s team begged, stolen and harried was Johnston, Sandeep, Saravana, Norwood, Rutwig Hedge, James Lord, Arun, Gillies, Mapplebeck, making his FP’s debut schoolboy Leston D’Costa, and a 12-41 pm registered Selvam Muthu. Continue reading

Stoney Broke by FP’s 3rd XI

The weather had been miserable during the week, but fortunately it was only cold and foggy on Saturday morning, and so the first game for FP’s 3rd XI in the reformed Grade 4 was at the new home ground at Harlaw. The FP’s team selected to play against Stonehaven 2nd XI was Ian Johnston, Sandeep Dhanamani, Saravana Kumar, Paul Norwood, Rutwig Hedge, James Lord, Shriram Balasubramani, Vishal Desai, Arunkumar Chithambaram, Harsh Nama, Naga Chaitu.

The toss was won by FP’s who asked Stonehaven to bat first. The artificial wicket looked good having just had any loose mud and surface water blown away by a blower wielding groundsman. The outfield, however, was long and wet. Continue reading

3rd FP’s Have Tail to Tell

AGSFP’s 3rd XI made the journey to the scenic Burnett Park in Banchory to play the last Grade 3 match of this sunny summer in drizzle which turned to heavy rain just on 1pm.

The rain stopped  half an hour or so later and the sun came out, but not enough to dazzle the Banchory captain and another toss was lost by Johnston, FP’s fielding. The remainder of the FP’s team were already taking the pitch as the toss was being taken – Sandeep, Siddarth,  Lord, debutant Gubbala, Guru, Diago, Satya, Shriram, wicketkeeper Kingshuk, and very last minute addition Uday.
