Skipper Aman Gets 2s off the mark

Mike Nattrass contributed with bat and ball

2s picked up their 1st win of the season in a closely contested game at Methlick. Having been bowled out for 121 in 37.4 overs on a challenging pitch, FPs managed to defend the total restricting Methlick to 116 for 8. A fine 37 not out from Tom Murray and 30 from opener Mike Nattrass were the mainstays of FPs score, extras also making a more than useful 25.

FPs then picked up wickets regularly reducing Methlick to 88 for 8, Aman Sood claiming a magnificent 5 for 14 in his 9 overs, Agha Haider took 2 for 31 in 9 overs and Mike Nattrass bowled a miserly spell of 1 for 18 in 7 overs including 3 maidens. Bremaneson and Davis combined to add an unbeaten 28 for the 9th wicket for Methlick but they ran out of time as 2s claimed the win. While it is a tough ask, 2s still have an outside chance of escaping relegation and that has to be the aim in the remaining games.

2s Crash to Ellon loss

2s were defeated by 8 wickets by Ellon on Saturday making just 85 all out which was never likely to be a challenge for the visitors at Rubislaw. Only Agha Haider (20) and brother-in-law Hasnain Javaid (19) offered any resistance as wickets fell regularly. Aman Sood removed Addy for a duck but Jonny Barrett (40no) and Rich Greenfield (39) put on 76 to take Ellon within 12 of victory when Harrower bowled skipper Greenfield. Barrett added the remaining runs as Ellon chased the target in just 12.3 overs.

Mannofield too powerful for 2s

League leaders Mannofield racked up 241 for 5 at Mannofield, Gary Stuart claiming 3 wickets. Hamish Penman struck an excellent 45 before a disastrous run out ended any hopes FPs had. Some late order runs from keeper Pete Macklin (33 not out) lifted FPs to 157 for 9 from their 40 overs.

Ellon Overpower 2s

Rajaa did his best with bat (48) and ball (1-31) to inspire 2s

Ellon proved too strong for 2s with the home side running out 8 wicket winners. 2s did OK with the bat making 134 all out in 37.4 overs which perhaps would have been worth more on a shorter outfield. Rajaa Monnapillai was the top scorer with 48 while Aman Sood made 20 and Paul Norwood 18, in a stand of 50 for the 5th wicket. FPs then started brightly with the ball reducing Ellon to 14 for 2 as Monnapillai and Javaid took early wickets. However an unbeaten stand of 121 between Jonathan Barrett (59no) and George Buchan (56no) ensured there was to be no surprise away win as 2s had to accept just the 9 points for their efforts.

Mannofield Too Powerful for 2s in Cup

Aman Sood top scored with 45

2s were defeated by 8 wickets by Mannofield in the Bon Accord Cup at the weekend. FPs won the toss and chose to bat at Rubislaw and made a competitive 122 for 6 in their 20 overs against a youthful Mannofield attack. Top batsman was skipper Aman Sood who made 45, Leston D’Costa also chipping in with 31. Any hopes of defending that total quickly evaporated as Indi smashed 81 not out as Mannofield cantered home with just over 8 overs to spare.
