Big Mo Mode Rained Off

Muaz Waheed clubbed 101 not out from 60 balls as 2s recovered from 38 for 5 to post 203 for 9 against Methlick but ultimately the weather won as Methlick were unable to start their chase. At 38 for 5, things were not promising but a stand of 57 between Muaz and Suleman Quraishi helped the rebuild, but another spate of wickets saw Grammar again in the mire at 106 for 8. This was the trigger for Muaz to launch his assault as he hit 8 fours and 7 sixes as he and Aavash (11) added 58, Muaz then added 39 for the 10 wicket unbroken, Abbasi digging in with 5 of them. It represented a superb recovery but whether or not it would have been enough will never be know. Next for 2s is a tough tie with Grampian.

Murphy Returns to Haunt Portcullis as 2s March on

Harry Murphy struck 61 and Jim Lee thrashed 41 from 22 balls with 4 sixes as Grammar 2 piled on 257 for 9 at the Duthie Park against Portcullis. Murphy will have been particularly pleased with his match winning score having only moved from Portcullis over the winter and was one of 3 stumpings in the 1st innings. Grammar stormed to a 145 run win despite playing with 10 due to a late call off, Muhammad Kashif taking 4 for 24 and Suleman Quraishi 4 for 32 as Grammar ran through Portcullis for 112, just Jake Dawson with 34 not out and Owen Thorpe 35 offering any real resistance, with 6 ducks recorded.

Grammar 2s will hope to keep up the pressure on Grampian when they take on Methlick next week.

Naveed Nails Knights 2s

A superb all round showing from Naveed Ul-Hassnan fired Grammar 2s to victory to maintain their strong run. He top scored with 33 at number 7 and then claimed 6 for 21 in 7.1 overs as 2nd Knightriders were all out 80 replying to Grammar’s 138 all out. At 31 for 5, Grammar were in deep trouble, but Naveed and Asif Yousuf (19) added 56 and Grammar managed to post a competitive score.

2nd Knightriders reply started badly and they slipped to 39 for 5, they reached 70 for 5, but a blitz of 5 for 10 saw Grammar to a strong win.

2s win well at Huntly

2s made it 3 wins in a row with a convincing win at Huntly. Malik taking his run tally to 163 with 59 in Grammar’s 221 for 7. Hamish Penman also sent a message to selectors with an excellent 33 with Suleman making a quickfire 39.

Huntly were always up against it and 4 for 13 from his 8 for Naveed meant Huntly’s chase never got going with the other wickets spread around. 2s have no game this Saturday and return to action on the 1st June against 2nd Knightriders.

Moaz Mullers Gordos

Moaz Waheed had a memorable debut helping 2s turn the game on its head alongside his captain Abdul Saboor. They rescued Grammar 2s from 57 from 6 to post 186 for 6. Their unbeaten partnership of 125 in 95 balls was dominated by Moaz who struck 4 sixes and 4 fours in his unbeaten 77 from 54 balls and his captain paced his inni9ng perfectly with 43 from 47 with 2 sixes and 2 fours.

With the ball Grammar kept the visitors in check with regular wickets as Gordonians slipped behind the rate and eventually closed on 123 for 9. Asif Yousuf was the pick of the bowlers with 5 for 16 but good tight bowling throughout meant Grammar always maintained control.

It makes it 2 wins from 2 after a loss in the inter club opener and 2s are in good shape as the seasons is starting to develop.
