Grammar let strong position slip in Mannofield Loss

Grammar let Mannofield off the hook as a combination of far too many wides (34) and no balls (8) plus dropped catches cost Grammar dearly. Naveed had recovered from a nightmare opening over of 15 balls to bowl superbly after a change of ends to take 3 for 37 and he, Karan Anand and Prash had reduced Mannofield to 74 for 6, but Grammar let things slip badly as late hitting and poor bowling and fielding discipline saw Mannofield reach 232 all out. Prash claiming 3 for 37, which was matched by Naveed, Karan Anand with 2 for 41 and Javaid and Swiergon claimed 1 victim each. Continue reading

Team 3 to follow

1s Come up short v Knights

Grammar missed a golden chance to secure a 2nd win of the season as they cam up short by 9 runs chasing Knightriders 171 all out. As has been the case this season, no one could make a telling score with 38 from Salman Bedaar and 29 from Harry Mapplebeck not proving enough. With the ball a good all round showing restricted Knightriders well, Sameer Bin Khalid nipping in with 4 for 21, Harry Mapplebeck with 2 for 20 and Hassaan claiming 2 for 43.

Grammar’s chase was always behind the rate but with wickets in hand they were hopeful of a late dash to the finish. At 74 for 1 they were well placed but as the rate climbed Grammar struggled to up the pace and lost crucial wickets in an ultimately frustrating loss.

Next up for Grammar is a very tricky home tie with Mannofield, with everyone hoping the grass has been cut.

Naveed Nails Knights 2s

A superb all round showing from Naveed Ul-Hassnan fired Grammar 2s to victory to maintain their strong run. He top scored with 33 at number 7 and then claimed 6 for 21 in 7.1 overs as 2nd Knightriders were all out 80 replying to Grammar’s 138 all out. At 31 for 5, Grammar were in deep trouble, but Naveed and Asif Yousuf (19) added 56 and Grammar managed to post a competitive score.

2nd Knightriders reply started badly and they slipped to 39 for 5, they reached 70 for 5, but a blitz of 5 for 10 saw Grammar to a strong win.

3s well beaten by Gordos

3s were defeated at Inverdee by Gordonianss 2s by 94 runs. Having restricted their opponents to 140 for 9 thanks to some handy bowling from across the board, Afaq claiming 3 for 31 3s, would have had high hopes of chasing down the win. However no one could make an impression with the bat as 3s slipped to 19 for 5. They were never able to recover and succumbed for just 46, claiming 10 points from the game.
