1s Masterblasters Misery in Final Over

1s fell to an agonising defeat to league leaders Masterblasters in an entertaining game at Rubislaw played out in a good spirit albeit in miserable conditions. Both teams did well to get a full game completed in what were wet conditions making handling the ball extremely challenging as the game went on. Continue reading

Magnificent Masood Conquers Gordos

Hassan Masood hit a magnificent 90 not out from 63 balls as 2s overhauled Gordonians 228 for 4 with 9 balls and 5 wickets in hand. He was brilliantly supported by Suleman Quraishi who struck a measured 79 at the top of the order as Grammar won an exciting game.

On the Countesswells astro, wickets are often hard to come by and this proved to be the case as the home sided made good progress throughout their innings posting a very competitive score, Sivaram (69) and Pranav (70) Gollakota and Umesh Basavaraju (56) all recording half centuries. In fact at 209 for 2, Grammar did well  to restrict the total to 228, Naveed Ahmad with a tidy 2 for 25. Kamran Quraishi also did well with 1 for 32 from 7 and various other bowlers chipping in.

In the chase, Grammar made a decent start reaching 43 for no wicket before Ansari (14) and Siddiq (0) fell. This allowed Suleman Quraishi and Masood to combine in a 102 run stand before Kamran Quraishi and Kashif (23) offered great support to help Grammar home for another important win.

Next up Grammar face a tricky game with in form Huntly at Rubislaw.

Leaders Grampian Far Too Strong for 3s

3s met Grampian for the 3rd time on Saturday having lost in the league earlier in the season and having had last weeks cup tie washed out with Grammar on the verge of a shock win. Grampian were relegated from Grade 1 last season and sit top of Grade 2 and unsurprisingly were just too strong for Grammar 3s.

Grammar batted 1st and lost regular wickets making just 83, a total not aided by 5 run outs only Sayed (18) and Shiraz (21) making double figures. Unfortunately Grammar could not pick up any wickets as Grampian strolled to victory in just 10 overs. These sorts of matches however, will not define 3s season and next up they face 2nd Masterblasters who recently narrowly defeated Grammar 2s.

Wet Wet Wet as all Grammar Games Wiped Out

Heavy overnight rain meant all 3 Grammar games were washed out on Saturday. Thankfully the calls came early in all 3 as wet outfields and ongoing drizzle made for easy decisions all round.

3s did get playing on Sunday in the Bon Accord Cup Semi Final and looked on course to take their tremendous cup run onto the final as they made 139 for 6 thanks to a dominant 74 (9×4, 3 x6) from Rasib Bashir from just 49 balls. He was well supported by Leston D’Costa with 32 but once again rain got involved.

Despite everyone’s best efforts there was no way the game could be completed or reach the 15 overs for the rain calculator to be used and the teams will need to start afresh next Sunday. League leaders Grampian had been reduced to 14 for 4 and despite recovering to 47 for 4 still needed 92 from 76 when the game had to be called.
