1s Come Up Short v Crescent

1s missed another opportunity to ease their relegation fears as they fell to a 2nd defeat of the season to Crescent. Chasing 160 for victory, Grammar were disappointingly bowled out for 133 as the batting again failed to deliver. Prash had again delivered with the ball bagging 4 for 28 while Hassaan (2/28), Javaid (2/32) and Agha Haider (2/26) supported well as Grammar kept Crescent in check throughout.

Grammer reached 57 for 1 and 92 for 3 thanks to 27 from Alex Keith, 29 from Leston D’Costa, but no one could go on and make a score. Grammar while scoring slowly were still in decent shape at 131 for 6, but collapsed dramatically to be all out for 133 with 3 overs still in hand. While Grammar are just above the relegation places, without winning a game or 2 it will be a real challenge to stay in Grade 1.

2s v 3s leads to high scoring encounter

With both 2s and 3s in the same league they once again faced off at Rubislaw. After 3s had beaten 2s on the opening day, it was 2s who triumphed this time around with a 55 run win, 3s making 189 in response to 2s 244.

Once again Hassan Masood scored well making 85 for 2s while Amjad made a very impressive half century. 3s skipper Babra Kamal picked up 5 for 58 with the rest of the wickets shared with 8 bowlers getting an outing.

3s battled well with the bat with contributions throughout the order but no one could get the big score needed to really challenge for victory. Naveed Ul Hassnan picked up another 5 wickets to ensure the chase was always in check.

Rain Stops 1 in their tracks at Inverurie

1s were left frustrated by localised rain at Inverurie as the game could not be completed with the visitors nicely placed. Inverurie had perhaps surprisingly opted to bat on a green deck and were soon in deep trouble as Prash bowled with supreme accuracy taking 4 for 7 in 8 overs, including being hit for 4. Hassaan struck 1st a wide ball being flogged by Norvel to point where Nasseri took a superb one handed catch the home skipper out for a 2nd ball duck. Continue reading

Off Day for 2s as Huntly Hammer Home Side

2s had an off day as they lost by 7 wickets at home to Huntly. Grammar fell to a scarcely believable 23 for 8 and then 37 for 9 but a spirited last wicket stand of 39 to more than double the score did at least help Grammar to some batting points. Usman batting 46 balls for his 11 showed what could be done and he was well supported by last man Sahadat Abbasi who made 18 from 34.

76 was never likely to be sufficient and despite a couple of wickets for Siddiq who took a very impressive 2 for 7 off 7 overs and a wicket from Suleman Quraishi, Huntly eased home with just under 17 overs in hand.

The result leaves 2s just behind Fraserburgh by 0.61 percentage points with 6 games to go. Next week 2s and 3s meet at Rubislaw.

Hemal Ton Downs 3s

3s despite a very spirited batting display fell to a 7 wicket loss as Hemal Chovatiya backed up his 3 for 16 with an unbeaten 117, as 2nd Masterblasters chased down Grammar’s 203 for 8. Grammar had been in some trouble with the top 3 aggregating 1 between them but some excellent batting from Hashmi (26) and then Syed Ahmed (58) on his 1st start of the season and Murtaza Sayed (46) helped Grammar up to a competitive score.

With the ball, Grammar picked up a couple of early wickets but could not dislodge the excellent Chovatiya who took Masterblasters to the win.
