Huntly Hunt Down 139 to see off 3s

Huntly batted with great purpose and quality to chase down 3s 138 all out for just the loss of 2 wickets, Charlie Kennedy making a fine unbeaten 70. Grammar’s total had not been helped by 2 run outs, but 34 from Abdul Hashmi and 29 from Khalid Zia gave Grammar some chance. 2 early wickets from Qazia Rafay had the visitors in a little bother at 38 for 2, but an unbeaten stand of 101 between Ian and Charlie Kennedy saw Huntly safely to the win in less than 15 overs.

Rain foils Grammar Despite Javaid 5for in narrow loss

1s fell to a somewhat unfortunate loss as rain once again influenced matters, Grammar losing by 8 runs on DLS when the game felt evenly poised. Grammar would rightly feel somewhat aggrieved that everyone was off the field for 30 minutes while the sun shone over concerns of the safety of the outfield, the once again long grass giving the cause for concern. In what were 2 evenly matched teams, Grammar had fought back well to bowl out the visitors for 176, Knightriders initially reaching 71 for no wicket in 11 overs. Continue reading

2s win at Knights as rain ends game early

2s ran out the winners on the DLS method against 2nd Knightriders to keep their promotion hopes alive in Grade 2. Having made 173 all out thanks to Harry Murphy’s 34, Mo Waheed’s run a ball 31 and 20 from Tom Murray, Grammar were always on top. They had reduced Knightriders to 65 for 5 from 25 overs when heavy rain ended the game early.

Both Kahsif and Upadhyaya had bowled tightly with the new ball and with pressure mounting Naveed kept it tight with 1 from 13 from 6 overs before Nasseri (2/10) and Saboor (1/7) pushed the hosts even further behind the rate with more accurate bowling.

It was of course unfortunate rain ended the contest but it did look like Grammar were well places to claim the win. Next up is 2nd top Fraserburgh at Rubislaw.

3s outplayed by Gordos

3s did well to keep Gordonians under 200, claiming 8 bowling points as they restricted the visitors to 191 for 8. Talha Navaid was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 35, while Ghafoor claimed 2 for 31. Unfortunately as has been the case on a few occasions this season, the batting failed to fire at all and 3s were bundled out for just 36 in 11 overs, only Navaid making double figures. Given some challenges on availability it was always going to be tough but a number of players should return next week and 3s were boosted by the return of Grammar stalwart Ian Johnston which was a welcome sight.
