FPs kept up the pressure at the top of the table as they dismantled Kemnay’s batting and completed victory in less than two hours at Rubislaw. Despite winning the toss, Kemnay surprisingly elected to bat first against a strong FP bowling unit which contained Moir, Lord, Stuart, Eagles, Tomkins, MacDonald and Youles.Young James Lord announced himself with a sharp bouncer, first ball of the game and Stark clearly unnerved was bowled a few balls later by a fine yorker for a duck. Barron hit the only four of Kemnay’s innings but soon played on to a fine Lord delivery. Moir joined in the fun, twice knocking out the middle stump, firstly bowling J Thom for 1 and then L Thom first ball. This left Kemnay at a very poor 19 for 4, which quickly became 19 for 5 as Fyffe miscued a wide delivery from Lord to MacDonald for a simple catch, Fyffe recording one of 4 ducks. Lord grabbed his 4th wicket when he had Turner caught down the legside by Clelland for 2 to end with an impressive 4 for 7 from 6 overs.
FPs decided to let some of their change bowlers have a chance, and Stuart and Tomkins were both succesful in hitting the timbers as well with Stuart bowling Morrice for 3 and Tomkins bowling Hawkins for 3 and then West for 5.
The Kemnay total was helped up to 39 by 17 extras, many of which were fairly generous wides. Bowling figures were Lord 6-3-7-4, Moir 4-1-9-2, Stuart 5-1-8-1 and Tomkins 5-2-2-4. Eagles solitary over cost 5.
40 was never likely to be a difficult target but FPs contrived to lose 3 wickets in the first 3 overs as a reshuffled batting order gave Kemnay 3 points. First Muthu was bowled for 1 by a shooter from Barron before MacDonald was adjudged caught at the wicket for 10 off Hawkins, James Lord then followed playing across the line to Barron for 1 leaving FPs 14 for 3. Morrison then slammed his first ball straight at Watson who spilled the chance.
After this, FPs settled down as Youles launched into the bowling to hit an unbeaten 22 in a unbeaten stand of 26 with Morrison. The only alarm when Youles skied a simple chance to Watson who contrived to drop the chance. Youles unconcerned then inside edged the next ball for 4 to wrap up a 7 wicket win, with the clock not yet striking 3.
