Mannofield played host to an excellent game of cricket, but unfortunately for Grammar it was the home side that won out by 28 runs, their 236 proving enough in a very even contest. Grammar won the toss and were able to call upon George Gill and Rasib Bashir to boost the batting, bowling and fielding. Overall Grammar were able to maintain Mannofield to a manageable total claiming all 10 bowling points thanks to 3 wickets each from Hassaan and Salman Bedaar.
The ground fielding was excellent with George Gill running out Sharma from the boundary and Haider running out Saraswat, but a superb 65 from Vila and 63 from Tahir meant Mannofield had a good score on the board.
Grammar started like a house on fire as Keith cracked 4 boundaries in one over. A rain break rather broke the momentum and he and Haider fell in quick succession to check Grammar at 58 for 2. Mapplebeck fell quickly, but Gill and Bashir built well to add 74, running well and putting the bad balls to the fence. Gill looked set for a big one but missed a straight full toss to be bowled for 41. Desai upped the pace with a huge six but fell for 17 shortly after Bashir had gone for a well made 49.
Needing nearly 9 an over, wickets continued to fall, Morrison well caught by Chandu before Hassaan breathed life back into Grammar hammering 20 from 5 balls before being magnificently caught by Dickinson aiming another maximum. It meant Grammar ran out of stream and were eventually dismissed 28 runs short.
Next up is a very tricky game against Gordonians as Grammar continue their battle against relegation.
Man of the Match
Rasib Bashir – a very good spell with the ball, good fielding and a very good 49
Champagne Moment
Hassaan’s whirlwind innings that briefly had Grammar believing they could pull off the win.
