As has been the story of the season, Grammar fell short in a 2nd innings chase as Gordonians won at Rubislaw. On a dreadful outfield, Gordonians score of 162 for 9 was worth many more, only Ayaz really able to profit with 67 while Grammar shared round the wickets. Grammar were always up against it and slipped to 35 for 5 with Haider (2), Desai (6), Swiergon (3), D’Costa (1) and Gill (12) rolled over in quick time.
Harry Mapplebeck and Salman Bedaar did combine well though and added 73, Mapplebeck looking good for 46 before falling. It meant Grammar needed quick runs and suffered 2 run outs as Penman and Morrison were sacrificed. When Bedaar went for a well played 26, the game was up and despite a defiant 6 from Javaid, he was out next ball LBW as Gordonians claimed the win.
The game was played in a good spirit and Grammar will rue the early collapse that left them up against it. It doesn’t get any easier as Grammar next head to Bon Accord.
Man of the Match
Harry Mapplebeck for his all round efforts
