Grim Grammar Batting in Crescent Loss

Grammar fell to a disappointing 6 wicket loss to Crescent making just 91 in 36 tortuous overs, the majority of batsmen letting frustration get the better of them on an outfield that was amazingly even slower than the week before as the grass cutting or non grassing cutting debacle continues. Crescent bowled good lines and pace off was a good tactic as the only way to score was tap and run or big hits. Grammar slumped to 26 for 5 and despite a glimmer of hope in the tap and run approach of Mapplebeck and Morrison, more poor shot selection saw Grammar slowly crumble.

While an advantage to bowl first as no one knows what is a good score, Crescent bowled sensibly and then batted with the same discipline. Stand in keeper Penman took two brilliant catches as Grammar did reduce Crescent to 45 for 3 but some assured batting from Mohan and some aggression from Shoaib saw Crescent home with plenty time to spare. Grammar despite gaining very few points, did decide to forego a point when Krishnan was run out backing up, Grammar electing to remind him to stay in his crease and continue as opposed to claim an unsporting 5th wicket.

Next up Grammar head to Knightriders.

Man of the Match
Slim pickings, but Hasnain Javaid claimed a tidy 3 for.

Champagne Moment
Penman’s 2nd catch standing up, a good grab from an under edge.
