FPs played out a good game with Stoneywood Dyce at People’s Park with the home side claiming a 49 run victory. Having bowled and fielded well, FPs bowled Stoneywood Dyce out for 154 off the last ball of the innings with Aman Sood claiming 3 for 22 and Prash 3 for 27. There were also 3 run-outs, 2 from the lethal arm or Mahesh Challa and 1 from the less-heralded Rob Swiergon who produced a fine direct hit. Conner McKinney took a ridiculous catch at short cover and Alex Keith rolled back the years with a diving low catch at slip as FPs turned in a flawless fielding display all the more remarkable given no one had played cricket for about 20 months. Everyone will be hoping that the good fielding has not all been used up pre-season.
Having had the home team 36 for 5, FPs were disappointed to allow such a score, but it was useful to allow 7 bowlers to get an outing. The batting was rusty with only Mike Nattrass showing much form with 29 at the top of the order in FPs 105 all out, but overall it was a game played in a good spirit and a useful, run-out for both teams. Next week FPs face an Aberdeenshire XI on Saturday and Cults in a 20/20 on Sunday. Nets take place tonight at Stoneywood Dyce while we await the arrival of new nets at Rubislaw.
