FPs easily overcame Mannofield in an 8 wicket win at Rubislaw wrapping up the win before half past 3. Karan Anand took 4 wickets as Mannofield mustered just 41, which took 30 overs with youngster Alawattage batting the whole innings for a determined 14 not out. Anand and Keith fell in the chase but it mattered little as FPs chased it down inside the 7th over.
With captain Swiergon still missing, Karan Anand again captained and lost the toss, Mannofield electing to bat. Agha Haider came into the side for Proud, but it was Prash and Anand who took the new ball. The game was effectively over in early on as Anand, who had bowled tightly had dangerman Indi superbly caught by Nattrass, who dashed 20 yards to gather a skier, the batsman gone for just 6.
Mannofield then defended staunchly but wickets came regularly, Agha Haider claiming Perera with a full toss having bowled some absolutely beauties before this. Challa was bowling with pace and after Anand missed a tough chance at slip, he tore through Yathagoda jnr to bowl him for 3. Roland Knudson joined the fun clean bowling Cannales for 6 and Thomson nipped in to bowl Alawattage snr for a duck.
With the visitors only raising 9 men, Anand returned to dispatch the tail, clean bowling Tonge (2), Cameron (0) and Goswami (0) in 4 balls as Mannofield folded for 41.
All the bowlers did well, Prash 4-1-8-0, Anand 5-1-5-4, Challa 7-1-9-1, Haider 5-1-7-1, Knudson 5-1-6-1, Morrison 1-0-1-0 and Thomson 3-0-4-1. For Mannofield the only positive was some good defensive batting from their youngsters.
Anand joined Keith to open and they were quickly up to 24, but Anand fell, LBW for 9 to Indi. Keith moved FPs towards the winning post, but edged a very wide ball to fall for 22 to Cannales. Nattrass and Snthil saw FPs home soon after for an easy win.
It was a useful warm up for the Challenge Cup at Strathmore on Sunday in which FPs have nothing to lose starting as underdogs.
