FPs got their hands on the Grade 1 title for the 1st time since 1942, marking the 3rd time the club had lifted the trophy, having
also won it in 1939. As well as raising this magnificent trophy, skipper Rob Swiergon was voted by Jack Nixon as Press player of the year and Roland Knudson and Leston D’Costa both won awards for the 2017 season. Knudson scooping the Grade 1 bowling (Urquhart Cup) for the very 1st time, seeing off some top contenders.
Youngster D’Costa impressed for all 3 teams during the season and has claimed both the Abdul Hayee Cup for Under 18 batting and the Cope Cup which is the overall batting prize for Grade 4. He was also nominated for the Press young player of the year but had to be content with his haul of 2 trophies.
