Rain ruins Rama’s reign

Unfortunately rain spoiled another Saturday afternoon and the match between FP’s 2nd XI and Banchory was abandoned after only 24.3 overs at Rubislaw.

The captains were the first to arrive at a dry Rubislaw and the toss was won by Banchory before 12-30pm, surely a Grades record.

FP’s openers Rama and Arul went out to bat in dry weather, but the outfield was very wet. Arul hit the first boundary, a pull off Morris’s first ball, but in the next over Arul missed a straight ball from Virk and was bowled for 5, FP’s 8- 1.

Rizwan and Rama batted sensibly in the sunshine, the sunshine appearing for half an over at least. They adding 57 runs in 13 overs before Rizwan was bowled in Virk’s 8th over for a well played 20 (1 x4).

Eagles and Rama maintained the run rate adding 51 runs for the 3rd wicket, helped by a steady supply of extras. But the black clouds were blowing across Rubislaw and after one rain interruption, the second shower turned out to be the last shower of the day. Tea was taken and then the game was officially abandoned .

FP’s were in a good position on 108 – 2 off 24.3 overs when the rain came, with Rama 44 n.o. (5 x 4) and Eagles 12 n.o. For Banchory Virk had taken 2 – 21 in 10 accurate overs.

Rama had found his best form of the season and but for the wet outfield and a couple of shot admirings rather than runnings, would have reached a very well deserved 50.
