Rain assists FPs

FPs were able to thank the weather for pulling them slightly further ahead of Inverurie in the battle to avoid the drop as heavy rain arrived to cause the abandonment at Harlaw with Queens Cross well placed to claim victory. With Inveruire losing heavily, all in all it proved to be a far from a disastrous weekend.

FPs compiled a painstaking 102 for 9 in 46 overs, mainly thanks to Jerry Moir’s excellent 36. John Lord weighed in with a cautious 21 and Whyte and Stuart added useful runs for the final wicket on what was a challenging surface. However, some excellent batting from Kieran Findlay who made 28 not out had Queens Cross well placed on 45 for 1 to claim their first victory of the season until the rain arrived. Jerry Moir claimed the wicket, Whyte taking a skier in the gully to remove Russell for 4.

Next week will be a key game at Inverurie and FPs will be keen to add some impetus to their batting as they look to put Inverurie under pressure.
