FP’s 2nd XI met Kemnay Kintore at Rubislaw on Saturday 7 May 2016. This was the 2nd’s first home fixture of the season against a newly promoted and ambitious KKCC.
Losing the toss, FP’s were put in to bat against a strong bowling attack who extracted pace and bounce from the Rubislaw astro track. Few of the top order made a significant contribution, Barker top scoring with 21 hard fought runs. Lower down the order a late rearguard action from Mehmood helped FP’s to a total of 94 a.o. Pick of the bowlers for KKCC were Fyffe with figures of 5-14 and Mirashi who took 3-19.
Defending a low total, FP’s were always going to struggle but went about their task with determination and enthusiasm. A few catches went down which didn’t help matters, but KKCC always looked like having enough at the top of the order to take them over the line. They achieved the required amount for the loss of one wicket, taken by Siva who deserved more from his devilish session of spin. Top scorers for KKCC were J Thom with 40no and Kola with 30no.
FP’s travel to the historic surroundings of the Balmoral Estate next weekend, where they will meet Crathie, the other newly promoted team in Grade 2.
