2nd XI Start With A Draw

FPs 2nd XI started their Grade 2 campaign with a well fought draw against an experienced Inverurie team on a cold day at Rubislaw.

Winning the toss, FPs Captain Devendran asked the opposition to bat first, hoping to knock down some early wickets. Unfortunately the obdurate Inverurie openers Hadden and Stalker made 110 and 61 respectively to put their team in a strong position. There were wickets from Whyte, Eagles and Devendran, the best being a stunning catch by Thangamani, who rushed in from the boundary to take a diving catch for Eagles. Inverurie finished with 227-3 from their 45 overs.

FPs were lively in response, looking to chase down the total set them early on. Unfortunately, wickets fell and slowed the chase, leaving FPs to battle for the draw. Notable innings were made by Clelland (26), top scorer Tenneti (42) and Mohanan (27 n.o.) who steered FPs home. The final score read 167-9.

A solid start for FPs in Grade 2 and a good place to build from. They will hope to be more penetrating with their bowling in the next game against Gordonians at Countesswells.
