FPs lose 7s semi final

FPs bowed out of the 2009 7s at the Duncan Cup semi final stage losing to a strong Cults side by 24 runs.  When Sam Knudson reduced Cults to 3 for 2 in the first over a shock seemed possible but some wayward bowling from the rest of the attack and some sensible batting ensured it was Cults who progressed.

FPs suffered an early setback when Budd called off due to forgetting about the game at an early stage and Roland Knudson was pressed into action.  Skipper Morrison won the toss and elected to bowl on a damp pitch.  Sam Knudson bowled well claiming the wickets of Devdas and Ejazi and after a difficult opening Stuart struck to bowl Barman as Cults slipped to 29 for 3.  Williams missed a tough caught and bowled and Sam Knudson was unfortunate to spill a difficult chance on the boundary with ball getting extremely wet but Jadhan and Meghani forged a fine partnership which carried Cults to 9 for 3.

FPs needed a strong start and it was Sam and Roland Knudson who opened but were unable to find the boundaries as they managed only a rate of 9 an over.   Sam Knudson was bowled for 9 by Deshpande for 9 and Morrison suffered the same fate for 4, after Roland Knudson had been run out for 19.  Muthu was unfortunate to slip to cause his downfall by run out before James Williams launched a fine assault hammering 20 in 6 balls including 2 sixes before being bowled.  Whyte and Stuart then scrambled a couple as FPs closed on 71.

Overall FPs will be reasonably happy with this years showing with Sam Knudson in good form with bat and ball and Martin Budd before his memory lapse a real lynchpin with the bat.
